Premier League roundup: Leno’s injury makes matters worse for Arsenal, Leicester denied restart victory and Wolves go level on points with United after West Ham win

After last week’s defeat against Man City, Arsenal dropped points again as Neal Maupay – whose challenge stretched off Leno – scored the injury-time winner for the Seagulls.

Two defeats in a row have pushed Gunners to 10th in the table and Bernd Leno’s leg injury in a 2-1 defeat against Brighton has added to the mercy of Mikel Arteta, who have lost three key players due to injuries including Granit Xhaka, Pablo Mari and now, Leno.

Bernd Leno, arguably the best player of the season for London side, met with a horrific leg injury after a challenge from Brighton forward Maupay who was looking to claim a loose ball at the edge of the box.

The German goalie was stretched off the pitch and replaced by Emiliano Martinez, who then conceded twice including a 90’+5 minute winner.

With only 8 game weeks to go, Arsenal are yet to play Liverpool, Leicester, Wolves, Spurs and Sheffield United and this devastating defeat has probably shut the doors of next year’s Champions League place for the Gunners.

With Chelsea yet to play against Aston Villa on Sunday, the gap between Leicester and Chelsea may reduce further after the Foxes’ 1-1 draw against Watford.

Leicester and Watford were settled for a 0-0 draw before Chelsea transfer target, Ben Chilwell scored a brilliant curling goal from the edge of the box.

Chilwell’s strike was destined to be a match-winner but another defender rose to the occasion as Watford’s Craig Dawson converted a beautiful volley right at the death.

The dramatic finish has lifted the Hornets to 16th place, one above their relegation rivals. Nigel Pearson’s side has comparatively easy fixtures going forward as they only face two top-six teams in their remaining 8 fixtures.

Whereas Leicester’s recent dip in form has put their 3rd place at risk and with Chelsea making a trip to Villa Park on Sunday, a win for the Blues will reduce the gap to 2 points.

Top News 3: Wolves go level on points with United after West Ham win

Wolves go level on points with United after West Ham win
Pedro Neto scored Wolves' second against West Ham

Nuno Espírito Santo master class as super subs earned all 3 points for the Wanderers in a 2-0 win over struggling West Ham.

The game changed for the Wolves in 2nd half when substitutes Adama Traore, the assister for the first goal and Pedro Neto, the scorer of the 2nd stole the show against relegation-threatened West Ham.

In 73rd minute, Traore expertly put a cross which was finished by Raul Jimenez who couldn’t miss from close range. Wolves’ second strike was even better when Matt Doherty’s cross was expertly converted by late sub, Pedro Neto.

This late win has pushed the Molineux Stadium residents to 6th with 46 points, level with Manchester United who played a 1-1 draw against Tottenham a few days back.

With Spurs and Chelsea next for the Hammer, Wolves defeat may prove to be a final nail in the coffin for David Moyes side.
