Although the Camp Nou outfit remain the best-placed team to sign the Dutchman, the Ligue 1 champions have refused to give up on his pursuit.
Paris Saint-Germain might be interested in completing the signing of long-term Barcelona transfer target Memphis Depay, reports Mundo Deportivo.
Depay, 28, seemed to be on the verge of joining Barcelona in the summer before his move to the Catalan giants broke down. Reports at the time claimed that Barca had agreed terms with the player and his club but their own financial situation prevented them from completing his signature.
Ronald Koeman’s side were reportedly hopeful of selling Ousmane Dembele to Manchester United and use the funds generated from his potential departure to fund the signing of Depay. However, after Dembele refused to leave the Camp Nou, Barca had no choice but to abandon the winger’s pursuit.
They didn’t totally give up on signing the Netherlands international, though, as Barca had reportedly planned to complete his signing in January – mainly because Depay will be a free agent next summer and Lyon would be forced to lower his asking price next month.
However, if the abovementioned report is to be believed, Barca would have to move quickly next month to secure the Dutchman’s signing, as PSG sporting director Leonardo is eyeing the Dutch winger with the knowledge that he’d be available for only €5m in January.
