As per the latest Real Madrid transfer news and rumors, Zinedine Zidane’s side are set to complete their first signing of the January transfer window on Monday.

Real Madrid are set to complete their first signing of the January transfer window by bringing in Brazilian star Reinier after they agreed a £25m deal for the player with his current club Flamengo.

The Brazilian failed to join with his Brazil U-23 teammates last week as he reportedly flew to the Spanish capital to complete the finalities of his agreement with Los Blancos.

AS reports that the Spanish side would have signed the player earlier had it not been for the issues surrounding the age of attacking midfielder.

Reiner was unable to put pen on paper with Zidane’s side as he wasn’t 18, though he is now free to commit his future to the club after celebrating his birthday earlier today.

The main reason why Real decided against announcing his signing today is that Brazil will be busy playing Peru in the pre-Olympics.

Real initially wanted to secure the signing of the player last week but were forced to wait due to the change in the fixture list of the Brazilian U-23 side.

Andre Jardine’s side were originally scheduled to play only one friendly last week but later decided that they’d play two games in the space of seven days.

The resulting change in their schedule forced Reinier to play in the second friendly before he could fly to Madrid and complete the deal.

His unveiling as a Real Madrid player on Monday means that the 18-year-old will miss his national team’s next two games against Peru and Uruguay.

Bleacher Report [via Globo Esporte] claim that Flamengo had initially put a 70m euro valuation on the player before they agreed to drop his buyout clause to 30m euros.

Prior to penning a six-and-a-half-year deal with the 13-time European Champions, Reinier has enjoyed a remarkable season in his home country.

The past few months have seen the 18-year-old make his senior debut, win the Brasileirao and Copa Libertadores double with Flamengo and hear his name chanted by the fans at the Maracana.

His arrival at Madrid will see Reinier joining his forces with the Real Madrid Castilla where he would try and showcase his talent to earn a berth in the senior team.

Given the potential he has shown in his native Brazil, where he has 6 goals in 14 league appearances this term, many expect that it won’t be long before Reinier could take that step up and represent Madrid in La Liga.
