Report – Dispute emerges among Premier League stars over wage-cut plan
The leading players introduced a #PlayersTogether initiative only yesterday

Less than a day after players from across the league announced the #PlayersTogether initiative, there seems to have been a backlash from some quarters.

Some Premier League players are unhappy over the wage-cut plan their fellow professionals unveiled on Wednesday, reports ESPN.

The English top-flight stars claimed yesterday that they have agreed upon a wage cut that would compel every player to donate 30% of their monthly wages to the NHS Charities Trust (NHSCT).

However, while the campaign received a widespread backing on social media where it was announced yesterday, the report claims that not all players agree with the figure.

Provided the issue remains unresolved, it could prove to be a massive headache for the Football Association and might see the reputation of players fall in the eyes of the public.

Not all Premier League players agree with #PlayersTogether initiative

The report claims that while footballers are mindful of the difficulties faced by the common Britons, they are resisting the plan unveiled yesterday.

It is claimed that some players are unhappy that the plan forces them to donate the money to only one charity without giving them an option.

Some foreign players have already made significant donations to various charitable organizations in their countries and wish that they continue to have that choice.

The footballing stars who are reluctant to sign the dotted line on the plan are also disagreeing with the figure proposed in it.

Ligue 1 players set to see wage cuts in coming weeks

At a time when their counterparts in England are negotiating among themselves regarding the size of donations, Ligue 1 players might see the decision imposed on them by the French football authorities.

ESPN claims that France’s Ministry of Economy and Finance and National Union of Professional Football Players (UNFP) have reached an agreement regarding the wage cuts.

Players who are currently earning between € 10,000 and € 20,000 after partial unemployment (a phrase used to denote players who are earning almost 70% of their usual wage) would see their wages reduced by 20% over the coming weeks.

Those who are earning between € 20,000 and € 50,000 would take a 30% wage cut, those taking home € 50,000 – € 100,000 a 40% wage cut and those on € 100,000 or over would see their wages fall by 50% under the proposed plan .
