Arsenal defender and former Jurgen Klopp center-back Sokratis Papastathopolous has claimed that his teammates would be easy to defend against Liverpool as the high-ball loving Burnley side which they faced last weekend.

With both teams having their initial two fixtures in the league, Liverpool and Arsenal wants to go head-to-head at the Anfield Stadium on Saturday, with a recent form in this fixture making the home side as clear favorites.

Arsenal, Liverpool came out of the game with a 5-1 victory, with a Roberto Firmino hat trick paving the way for a comfortable win for the home side.

In fact, the last time Arsenal defeated Liverpool’s what way back in April 2015 when the Gunners recorded a fine 4-1 win over the Reds at the Emirates Stadium. Since then, Liverpool have won 4 and drew 4 of the 8 times both sides have locked horns with each other.

The Greek defender who played under current Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp back when the duo was at Borussia Dortmund feels that Liverpool will be easier to defend against than their last-weekend opponents Burnley.

The 31-year-old full back was part of the Arsenal Starting XI which was bamboozled by the onslaught of the Liverpool attacking trio last season. Though he is confident that it will be different this time around.

“It’s a different game [from the Burnley one],” Sokratis told the Evening Sport. “Maybe it is more easy, because you do not have to fight a lot – but they also play football.

“If they are on good day and you are having a bad day, it is hard. In the end, we know that it is difficult and we respect Liverpool a lot. But I think the best way to go and play our style of game. We want see what happens. “

Arsenal's defense is a worry

For a team which spent over $100m on new signings in the summer transfer window, it is perhaps ironical to note that Arsenal have two weak links at the heart of their defense.

David Luiz, who was brought in from Chelsea after the unsuspected departure of Laurent Koscielney for France, is more a quick fix than a long-term replacement of the former Arsenal skipper.

Also, while Sokratis has enjoyed a fine start to the season, it remains to be seen how he will fare against a side that scored 5 past him the following season.

Therefore, while Liverpool would not be afraid of the attacking threat which the Gunners might pose on Saturday, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino favored the Arsenal center backs
