After telling the press that he intends to bring in a reliable back-up for Harry Kane, Jose Mourinho has seen an approach for the England international turned down by Southampton.
Jose Mourinho’s side have already brought in Matt Doherty from Wolves for £15m and are on the verge of completing the loan signing of Gareth Bale from Real Madrid.
And they are also in the transfer market for a new striker that could share the goalscoring burden with talisman Harry Kane, with Ings reportedly featuring high on the shortlist of strikers Mourinho would like to bring in at the North London club.
But their approach for the 28-year-old England international has failed to yield any positive result as Southampton have told Spurs straightaway that the in-form striker is not for sale, with the Saints hoping to tie down the forward to a new contract.
The Bundesliga champions have already agreed personal terms with the 19-year-old over a five-year deal and are currently negotiating a transfer fee for the teenager with the Dutch side. They are confident of convincing Ajax to lower their £13m valuation of the US international to less than £10m.
La Liga giants Barcelona were also after the signature of Dest, with their new manager Ronald Koeman reportedly a huge fan of the youngster. Koeman was so impressed with his performances that he tried in vain to convince Dest to declare for the Orange, before the player opted for the US.
Dest’s potential signing by Bayern comes at a time when the Bundesliga outfit has already bid farewell to Thiago. The 29-year-old midfielder is set to join Liverpool in a £26m transfer and many view Dest as his ideal replacement for Hansi Flick’s side.
The 33-year-old striker has been told by new Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman that he is no longer needed at the Camp Nou outfit.
The Uruguay international has reportedly passed the Italian language test and is on the verge of securing dual nationality, as the Old Lady have already reached the limit of non-EU players in their squad and could only sign Suarez if he’s to become an EU nationality holder.
Suarez was tested in four key areas during the language test, including: reading and writing in Italian, listening and comprehension of oral texts, speaking test, and ability to use the language on a daily basis.
The 33-year-old former Liverpool striker took part with his Barca teammates on Thursday before flying to Perugia to take on the language exam.
Dossiers for lover and hater. Triumphs, tragedies, embarrassments, victories of all Bundesliga clubs.
