New Celta Vigo signing Denis Suarez has criticized his former boss Ernesto Valverde for ignoring him during the summer after his move from FC Barcelona

Suarez, who started his career with Celta Vigo B in 2016, had a stop-start career at the Camp Nou as he made 46 appearances during his 3 year stay at the club.

Afterward, following a failed loan spell at Arsenal which saw him making 4 Premier League appearances for the Gunners, the 25-year-old decided to move back to Celta Vigo for a € 13m transfer fee.

His departure from the club went unnoticed till today as he came out of Barcelona, in the likes of Antoine Griezmann from rivals Atletico Madrid.

Marcelino at Valencia, Suarez has decided he would be back to Vigo

Now that he has established himself at the Estadio Municipal de Balaidos, Suarez has lifted the lid on his move.

“Valverde has sent me zero messages,” replied Suarez when asked if he had spoken to the Barcelona manager ever since his multi-million move away from the club.

“I was willing to give up many things to go to Valencia, but I rejected his offer because they wanted to give up many more things.

“Marcelino was constantly calling me to tell me how the situation was,” he told Cadena SER. “I was willing to give up many things to go to Valencia, but I rejected his offer because they wanted me to give up many more things.”

Why the anger

For a player who was destined to be the next big thing to come out of Spain, Suarez’ career has followed a downward trajectory right from the start.

After kicking off his career with Celta B in 2010, the Spaniard was then shipped to Manchester City. He endured a catastrophic spell at the Etihad stadium as the 25-year-old didn’t make a single appearance for the Citizens.

Afterward, Barcelona B came calling for the then 19-year-old, and it was his performances for the junior side which motivated Sevilla to sign him on loan in 2014.

However, just like his previous spells away from Barcelona, Suarez was unable to turn his stay into a permanent one. Despite making over 31 appearances in a single season, he managed to score only 2 goals.

Since then, the Spanish forward has played for four clubs in as many years, without making to make a positive impression for any one of them. However, now he has moved back to the club where it all started for him, Denis Suarez can hope to rejuvenate his career.
