Tottenham open contract talks with star, AC Milan closing in on another midfielder and more news

Even though the French World Cup winner still has two years remaining on his current deal, the North London outfit are keen to tie him down for the foreseeable future.

Tottenham Hotspur have opened talks with goalkeeper Hugo Lloris over a new contract, according to a report by Football Insider [via Evening Standard].

Lloris still has two years remaining on the six-year deal he signed with Spurs in 2016 – taking him to age 35. The 33-year-old shot-stopper moved to London in an initial £7.8m deal from Lyon in August 2012 and has made 325 appearances for the club in all competitions.

The report of his potential new contract with Tottenham has come at a time when Jose Mourinho’s side have already brought in Joe Hart on a free transfer. The former Manchester City and West Ham goalkeeper has joined the club as a replacement for Michel Vorm who left Spurs earlier this summer.

His new deal with Tottenham would all but suggest that Lloris is going to retain his number one spot in Spurs’ goal for the rest of his career.

The Rossoneri have already agreed a deal in principle with Serie A outfit Brescia for highly-rated midfielder Sandro Tonali who was previously linked with Inter Milan.

AC Milan are keeping tabs on Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare and have a real intention of signing the Franc U21 international this summer, as per Le10 Sport.

The Serie A giants aren’t the only club interested in Soumare as the French midfielder is also reportedly attracting interest from the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United. Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has also watched the midfielder in recent months.

Le10 Sport further claim in their report that Stefano Poli’s side have just made a ‘noticeable’ inquiry for Soumare and are really interested in acquiring his services. But the Italian outfit are yet to submit any offers for the Lille ace.

Soumare came through the youth ranks of Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain before leaving the club to sign for Lille II in 2017. His maiden season for his new club saw Soumare made his Ligue 1 debut and the midfielder has represented Lille on 53 occasions since.

Top News 3: Chelsea closing in on Kai Havertz

After lengthy negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen over the forward’s transfer fee, the Blues look on the cusp of signing the 21-year-old Germany international.

Chelsea are now on the cusp of signing Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen after the Bundesliga outfit agreed a deal in principle for Roma forward Patrik Schick, reports Daily  Mail.

Shick, who spent the last season on loan at RB Leipzig, is eyed by Peter Bosz’s side as the potential replacement for Chelsea-bound Havertz. His parent club Roma are also keen to cash-in on the striker after he failed to impress for them following his club-record transfer from Sampdoria in 2017.

His potential move to Leverkusen would all but pave the way for Havertz’ exit from the club. The 21-year-old has been linked with a move to Chelsea all summer after a sensational Bundesliga season that saw Havertz score 12 and assist 6 goals in only 29 starts.

The forward’s signing by the Chelsea isn’t expected to be the last bit of business that Frank Lampard’s side will carry out this summer, as the Blues are still reportedly in the market for a new goalkeeper that could give more competition to the error-prone Kepa Arrizzabalaga.
