The arrival of the former Chelsea and Real Madrid manager has breathed new life into the Spurs squad which now finds itself just 3 points behind 4th placed Chelsea.

Stats prove that Tottenham forward Dele Alli is the club’s most improved player under new manager Jose Mourinho, banishing rumors that his career was on a slippery slope.

Dele exploded to English football with his mesmerizing performances for Spurs under the then-manager Mauricio Pochettino in 2015 but was unable to make his mark in the last few months.

His poor form in front of goal was a major worry for the Tottenham faithful who had grown accustomed to seeing the 23-year-old putting in brilliant performances every weekend.

The arrival of Mourinho at the club has breathed new life into the England international, with the North London club reaping rich rewards of his return to form.

Since the appointment of the Portuguese as Spurs manager, Dele Alli has scored more goals and provided more assists than most of his teammates during that period.

Tottenham appointed Mourinho as the club’s new manager on November 20 after a poor start to the season ended up costing former boss Pochettino his job.

During the 1-month that the Portuguese has been at the club, Alli has scored 5 goals and assisted another 3 to his teammates in all competitions.

His form under Mourinho is a stark contrast to the form the midfielder showed in the first three months of the season, during which he managed just 2 goals and a single assist in all competitions.

That he has managed to score more goals under the Portuguese in one month (5) than he did under his predecessor in three (2) shows how brilliantly the 23-year-old has adapted to life under his new boss.

In the first training session that he took as Spurs’ manager, Mourinho demonstrated how he was going to get the best out of the then out-of-form England international.

Speaking about the incident, here’s what Mourinho had to say last month: “I asked Alli: ‘Are you Dele or Dele’s brother?’

The England international immediately replied: ‘I’m Dele’, to which Mourinho responded: ‘Okay, so play like Dele.’

The Portuguese international later told Sky Sports that he believes that the 23-year-old has what it takes to be a fantastic player.

‘I already spoke with him,’ Mourinho told Sky Sports. ‘I think he is potentially a fantastic player. Now I have to try to create a tactical situation that he is happy with.’
