Umtiti key to Barca’s Depay deal, Leeds want PSG midfielder, and Everton close to signing Chelsea defender

Although the defender remains keen on staying at the Camp Nou, Barcelona are hopeful of including him in the deal that would bring Depay to the club.

Barcelona are putting pressure on Samuel Umtiti to join Lyon as part of the deal that would see Memphis Depay moving in the opposite direction, as per Sport.

The French defender is on the list of players new Barca manager Ronald Koeman wants to sell to finance the arrivals of several new faces at the club. One of the players Koeman wants to sign is Netherlands international Depay, who previously played under the 57-year-old for the Dutch national side.

Umtiti joined Barca from Lyon in 2016 but a string of injuries has prevented the France international from becoming a permanent member of the club’s starting eleven. His €8m-per-annum wage bill is another reason why the Catalan outfit are keen to get rid of the 26-year-old.

The World Cup winner’s astronomical salary could also be a problem for Lyon who have seen their finances battered by the COVID-19 pandemic, though Barca hope that the Frenchman would lower his salary demands to get his move back to Lyon over the line.

Following their promotion to the Premier League after nearly two decades in the Championship, Leeds have been hugely ambitious in the transfer market.

Leeds United are planning a sensational transfer swoop that would see Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Julian Draxler move to Elland Road, as per RMC Sport.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side gained promotion to the English top-flight at the end of last season and have used their Premier League status to sign a wealth of talent from across Europe. The Whites have already spent more than €60m on securing the services of Rodrigo, Helder Costa, Robin Koch, among others.

And they’re now trying to bring the Germany international Draxler to the Premier League. The 26-year-old midfielder was unable to get regular game time in the recently concluded Ligue 1 campaign, making only 11 league appearances for Thomas Tuchel’s side.

The report linking Leeds to Draxler further claims that while the midfielder hasn’t ‘responded positively’ to the approach from the Premier League outfit, PSG sporting director Leonardo is keen to offload the German who only has one year remaining on his contract with the club.

Top News 3: Everton close to signing Fikayo Tomori on loan from Chelsea

The Toffees have already spent around €50m on securing the signings of Colombia international James Rodriguez and former Napoli midfielder Allan.

Everton are close to securing the services of defender Fikayo Tomori from Chelsea on a season-long loan, according to ESPN.

The 22-year-old centre-half is deemed surplus to requirements by Frank Lampard after the Blues secured the signing of free agent Thiago Silva last week. Tomori has attracted interest from Newcastle United as well but Everton appear to be in pole position for his signature.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side have been busy in the transfer market of late and have already secured the signings of James Rodriguez and Allan from Real Madrid and Napoli, respectively. Both the players previously played under Ancelotti and have cost the Toffees a combined €50m in transfer fees.

And they aren’t going to conclude their spending spree with the signature of Tomori, as transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the Goodison Park residents have also reached an agreement with Watford for the transfer of Abdoulaye Doucoure to the Merseyside.
