Unai Emery discusses Dani Ceballos’ Arsenal future amid rumors of permanent deal

Even though it has only been a few months since Arsenal signed the Spain international on a season-long loan from Real Madrid, there were rumors that the club is looking to make his stay permanent.

Unai Emery has rubbished rumors that Arsenal have made a £30m bid to permanently secure the services of on-loan midfielder Dani Ceballos from his parent club Real Madrid.

The 24-year-old Spain international joined the Gunners on a season-long loan after spending two seasons at the Santiago Bernabeu, making 56 appearances for the Los Blancos.

With competition for places not allowing Ceballos enough game time in Zinedine Zidane’s side, Ceballos moved to England in a bid to get more playing minutes.

The Spaniard’s first few months at the London-based club have been hugely successful for both himself and the team. He has already made 9 appearances for the Gunners this season, 5 of which came from the bench, providing two assists in the process.

Speaking to the press in the build-up of his side’s Thursday’s Europa League clash against Vitoria SC, Unai Emery rubbished rumors that Arsenal have placed a £30m bid for the 23-year-old.

“I think it is too soon to say that. Ceballos is doing great things here, he is playing regularly,” said Emery when told by one of the gathered journalists about the transfer rumors surrounding the player.

“Of course I know he has a lot of potential and I think this is just the beginning. But, always, all the players need time to adapt to the Premier League. He’s in that process and I really want to accelerate it.

“He has had some good games, sometimes it’s not been easy for him. But I think that’s normal. But I think it’s too soon to say that we want to incorporate him in different conditions.

“The ultimate goal for me with Ceballos is that he can bring us all his potential and help us to achieve all our goals as a team, with more positive performances. We are more than happy to count on him.”

Since securing a season-long loan to Arsenal in the summer, Ceballos has become a fan favorite with his string of eye-catching performances for the Gunners.

The 23-year-old has made 12 appearances for the Gunners in all competitions this season, scoring a goal and providing two assists for his teammates in the process.

His performances have dipped off late however the player cannot be criticized due to the fact that the team as a collective has been suffering a blip of late.

Anyone who regularly watches the Gunners can see that there is loads of potential to unlock in Ceballos as he’s a talented individual who can serve the club for years to come.

However, at the same time, one cannot disagree with Emery that these are still early days for the Spaniard in London. Ceballos needs to perform on a more regular basis and help the club win more matches if he’s to extend his stay at the Emirates beyond next summer.
