When Will Paul Pogba return? Solskjaer offers injury update on the Man Utd star
When Will Paul Pogba return? Solskjaer offers injury update on the Man Utd star and when he will feature again for the Red Devils.
- Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed Paul Pogba will not return to action until the start of March at the earliest
- The 27-year-old was forced off during Manchester United’s 3-3 draw with Everton at the start of this month
- The thigh-injury which he sustained during that game will keep him out of action for at least a month
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed Paul Pogba will miss the rest of February due to the thigh injury the Frenchman sustained during Manchester United’s 3-3 draw with Everton on February 6.
The 27-year-old French World Cup winner was taken off before the half time as Old Trafford as Carlo Ancelotti’s side held Man Utd to a 3-3 draw at the start of this month, missing out of his side’s FA Cup victory over West Ham and the subsequent 1-1 draw with West Brom at the weekend.
And speaking ahead of his side’s Thursday’s last-32 Europa League first leg clash against Sociedad, Solskjaer confirmed that he will not be able to call upon Pogba anytime soon.
“With Paul, he is recovering well and starting the treatments, but it will be a few weeks,” Solskjaer said. “He won't be playing in February, that's for sure. It will be a few weeks until we see Paul.
Games Pogba will miss due to injury
Assuming the Frenchman returns to action ahead of next month’s derby, he will have missed four crucial games for his side by then, including both Europa League ties against Sociedad and two Premier League clashes with Newcastle United and Chelsea.
His absence might prove to be the undoing for a United side that has started showing signs of fatigue over the past few weeks, as evidenced by the Red Devils picking only 1 Premier League victory over their last five games in the English top-flight.
Who will replace Pogba in the Man Utd starting XI
Given that Pogba was absent as United were held to a 1-1 draw by West Brom at the weekend, Solskjaer’s team selection for the game gives a very good clue as to who the Red Devils’ faithful can count on to replace the Frenchman.
Scott McTominay is the one expected to replace Pogba in the Man Utd starting XI, with the Scotland international putting in a string of excellent displays whenever given the chance.
