Why Arsenal missed out on Aouar, three more Inter players test positive for COVID-19 and more news

The 22-year-old was on the transfer radar of Gunners all summer before Mikel Arteta’s side completed the deadline day signing of Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid.

Arsenal missed out on signing Houssem Aouar from Lyon this summer because of the demands of the Lyon ace’s agent, per ESPN.

The 22-year-old France international was on Gunners’ transfer radar all summer before Mikel Arteta’s side completed the deadline day signing of Thomas Partey. The 27-year-old Atletico Madrid defensive midfielder ended up costing the Gunners €50m in transfer fee.

And now it is being claimed that Arsenal could have signed Aouar instead if it were not for the demands of the player’s agent, who is also his brother. Brahim Aouar wanted a £10m commission on the move of his brother to the Emirates and Arsenal’s refusal to pay the amount scuppered the move.

Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain were also reportedly keeping tabs on Aouar who has claimed that he has no regrets over staying put at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais for another season.

Earlier this week, Slovakian centre-back Milan Skriniar and Italy U-21 defender Alessandro Bastoni also tested positive for the coronavirus.

Three more Inter Milan players have tested positive for COVID-19, the Serie A club announced in a statement on Friday.

Antonio Conte’s side said in the statement that midfielders Radja Nainggolan and Roberto Gagliardini and reserve goalkeeper Ionut Radi had all tested positive for the coronavirus.

Earlier this week, centre-back Milan Skriniar returned a positive test while on national duty with Slovakia and Alessandro Bostani, another defender, tested positive while he was with the Italian U-21 side.

Serie A rules dictate that any player who test positive have to self-isolate for 14 days, which means Inter could have a dilapidated squad for the Milan derby on October 17.

Top News 3: Real Madrid rule out signing Paul Pogba

Will Pogba leave Man Utd this summer: Mino Raiola offers latest update on his client’s future

The 27-year-old Manchester United midfielder had claimed only a few days ago that it was his dream to one day play for La Liga champions.

Real Madrid will not try and sign Paul Pogba despite the fact that the France international came close to joining them on three different occasions in recent years, according to AS.

Zinedine Zidane’s side was reportedly on the verge of signing Pogba in September 2016 before the player’s high financial demands put paid to any chances of him moving to Santiago Bernabeu. Los Blancos then came close to his signature last summer before poor relationship between Florentino Perez and Mino Raiola soured the negotiations between both sides.

Madrid returned for Pogba’s signature this summer as well, but with Luka Modric in the final months of his contract and Zidane opting for more muscle in the centre of the midfield, once again Pogba was unable to complete his ‘dream’ move to Santiago Bernabeu.

And it is now being reported that La Liga champions won’t make another attempt to sign Pogba, as Zidane prioritizes the signings of Kylian Mbappe and Eduardo Camavinga in the coming transfer windows.
