Why Zidane won’t rotate Real Madrid starting XI against Elche

The reigning La Liga champions are coming into this game level on points with leaders Atletico Madrid, albeit having played two more games than Diego Simeone’s men.

Zinedine Zidane won’t rotate Real Madrid starting XI against Elche due to his side’s tendency of faltering against the lesser names in the league, per AS.

The reigning La Liga champions are coming into this Wednesday’s clash with Elche on the back of a six-game winning run in all competitions. They haven’t lost in any competition since their 2-0 loss to Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League at the start of this month.

However, despite his side’s excellent form, Zidane is reportedly wary of taking Elche, who come into this clash only one-point off relegation places, too lightly. The Real Madrid manager knows that his side’s defeats this season have mostly come against sides positioned in the bottom half of La Liga table.

How might Real Madrid line up against Elche

Given that Zidane is expected to nominate the same starting XI that helped Real Madrid put Granada to the sword before Christmas, it means that the front-three of Lucas Vazquez, Benzema and Vinicius Jr. will start Wednesday’s game from the first whistle.

Behind them in midfield, Casemiro is expected to start in the middle, with Toni Kroos (left) and Fede Valverde (right) on his both sides. Madrid’s defense is expected to comprise of Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane in the middle, with Dani Carvajal and Ferland Mendy marshalling the wings.

Possible Real Madrid line up against Elche: Courtois; Carvajal, Varane, Ramos, Mendy; Velverde, Casemiro, Kroos; Vazquez, Benzema, Vicinius Jr.
