After agreeing personal terms with Diallo in October, Man Utd completed his signing for a £19m transfer fee from Atalanta in January.
Manchester United’s latest signing Amad Diallo could play for the first team in a matter of weeks, per Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The 18-year-old Ivorian, who agreed to move to Old Trafford in October, had to wait for three months before completing his move to the Premier League. He was allowed to move to United after getting an Italian passport and receiving approval from English football’s governing body and the Home Office.
However, while he spent the first half of season in Italy, Diallo didn’t play much there as he made only two appearances for Atalanta before moving to England. The 18-year-old was a regular on the bench, though, underlining the potential he possesses at such a young age.
His move to United earlier this month raised questions about whether Diallo will play at all for the first time this season, given the fact that he’s way down the pecking order at the Old Trafford outfit and didn’t play much in the first half of the ongoing campaign.
“”It might be quicker than [four to five weeks], who knows? He's definitely settled down well, the players have taken to him. He's a very good character, a polite and smiley boy who works hard,” said Solskjaer when asked about the immediate future of Diallo at the Old Trafford outfit.
“Some adjustment to settle into the hustle and bustle of the Premier League but I can't see it being too long until he's in the squad.”
According to Manchester Evening News, Diallo has been added to the Man Utd FIFA 21 squad, with the wonderkid given the official overall rating of 64 out of 100, the same rating which he had when he was playing for Atalanta.
