Will Cavani stay at Man Utd? Argentine journalist offers latest update on the striker’s future

  • Edinson Cavani will not reportedly extend his stay at Man Utd beyond this season as he wants to play for Boca Juniors
  • The 34-year-old left PSG last season before joining the Old Trafford outfit on a one-year deal that will expire this summer
  • Cavani has scored 6 goals in only 9 Premier League starts for the Red Devils and has also provided 2 assists to his teammates

Edinson Cavani will not stay at Manchester United beyond this summer as he ‘wants to come’ to Boca Juniors, Argentinian journalist Martin Costa told TNT Sports [via Daily Star].

The 34-year-old Uruguay striker joined Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side after leaving French giants PSG on a free transfer last summer.

Cavani’s arrival at Old Trafford raised many eyebrows as critics pointed to his age to predict that he would not succeed in the Premier League.

The former Napoli striker has been able to prove such prophecies wrong by netting six goals in his first 9 Premier League starts for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

Cavani has been at his best when deployed up front this season and his ability to flummox opposition defenders with an incisive movement that made him PSG’s all-time top scorer has been on offer numerous times over the past 10 months.

However, despite being an unqualified success during his time in England, Cavani’s father believes that his son is not ‘comfortable in England’ and will end up playing in South America.

And now Argentinian journalist Costa has echoed the same views by claiming that Cavani wants to sign for Boca because the Argentine side are a ‘competitive’ outfit.

Argentinian journalist: Cavani wants to come to Boca Juniors

Costa told TNT Sports: “There are chances. I have the information that he wants to come here. That doesn’t mean that he’ll just come. He wants to be in a competitive team.”

Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claimed earlier this month that he would like Cavani to extend his stay at the club by one season, adding that the club is speaking to ‘Eddy’ to convince him that his immediate future lies in England.
