Is Erling Haaland heading to Barcelona? Mino Raiola gives update on the Borussia Dortmund striker’s future

Is Erling Haaland heading to Barcelona? His agent Mino Raiola gives update on the Borussia Dortmund striker’s future.

Josep Maria Minguella, the vice-president choice of Emile Rousaud, had claimed that Haaland would move to Barcelona if the former president is elected once again on January 24.

Mino Raiola has rubbished rumors he’s discussing the future of Erling Haaland with candidates for the Mundo Deportivo.

“Fake news! I have never spoken to any Barcelona presidential candidate about Haaland and I will not. If there is a new president elected in January, he can call me,” Raiola reportedly told German portal Sport1 in an interview earlier today.

His comments have come in the wake of a statement by Josep Maria Minguella who claimed that Barcelona will move for Haaland if Emile Rousaud is elected as the club’s vice president in the elections scheduled to be held later this month.

However, while Raiola has denied being in contact with Minguella or Rousaud, he has perhaps deliberately left the door open for any future negotiations with Barca regarding the future of his client. He did that by hinting that Haaland’s future will come in discussion with whoever is ‘elected president’.

Where will Haaland go next?

Reports over the past year have linked the former RB Salzburg striker with the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain, with rumors about Haaland moving to Barcelona only starting after the recent comments by Minguella.

Put together all these reports, and it seems only a matter of time before the Norway international would join Los Blancos. That seems plausible because, having not spent anything last summer and with Benzema on the wrong side of 30, Zinedine Zidane’s side might identify Haaland as the Frenchman’s successor.

Even if that weren’t to happen this summer – as various reports have claimed that the release clause of Haaland will only come into effect at the end of 2021/22 campaign, it’s very difficult to imagine a scenario in which the Los Blancos would let any other club steal the march on the Norwegian.
