Man Utd add two players to 25-man Premier League squad

  • Manchester United had added two players to their 25-man squad for the second half of 2020/21 Premier League season
  • One of the players was left out without reason whereas the other missed the first half of the season due to injury
  • The Red Devils’ next fixture will see them host Everton at the Old Trafford Stadium on Sunday evening

Manchester Evening News.

The Red Devils are currently sitting at 2nd place in the table and are just three points behind leaders Manchester City, albeit having played a game more.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men could therefore move level on points with Pep Guardiola’s side provided they defeat Everton on Saturday night’s late kickoff at Old Trafford.

And to make sure that their excellent performances from the first half of the season continue in the business end of the campaign they have added two players to the squad submitted to the Premier League in the late hours of Friday.

Man Utd add Phil Jones and Sergio Romero to Premier League squad

Sergio Romero, who was linked with a move to Argentina in the summer, was also left out of United’s Champions League squad at the start of the campaign. He was not even named in their Europa League squad after the Red Devils finished third in their Champions League group.

However, after the Argentina international failed to secure a move away from the club in January, he is now back in the 23-man Man Utd squad for the rest of the English top-flight season.

Phil Jones, meanwhile, has been recovering from an injury he suffered at the tail-end of 2019/20 campaign. The England international has been named in United’s Europa League squad too, and will return to the side once he recovers his match fitness.

Here’s the Man Utd squad in full for the remainder of the 2020/21 Premier League season: David De Gea, Dean Henderson, Lee Grant, Sergio Romero, Eric Bailly, Phil Jones, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Alex Telles, Axel Tuanzebe, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Bruno Fernandes, Fred, Daniel James, Juan Mata, Nemanja Matic, Scott McTominay, Paul Pogba, Donny van de Beek, Edinson Cavani, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford
